Orange City College of Social Work, Nagpur as a leading College with quality standing in teaching, learning and extension activity, gives due importance to research and innovations. Researchers of this institute are required to maintain the highest standard of excellence and ethical behaviour in all their research activity. Orange City College of Social Work, Nagpur is recognized as “Place for Higher Learning and Research” leading to social work departments under faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies.  The “Recognition” for Ph.D. Programme so granted, by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur shall be for a period of five years from the date of issuance of the communication as Registration No. RTMNU/CDS/2020/722 on Dated. 22/06/2020. The intake capacity of registered students for social work departments is up to 20. Till date 08 students are registered in the Ph.D. programme at Place of Higher Learning and Research of Orange City College of Social Work, Nagpur.

The Ph.D. research Cell of the college is renowned place for research task and activities in the region. The centre is still working on the two ICSSR sponsored major research projects as well as it executes numbers of participatory and collaborative research projects with the collaboration or participation of Government and Non-Government institutions. The centre has published its own edited book and International Peer Reviewed – Referred & Indexed Research Journal with Impact Factor – 8.575. The research centre promotes many research activities and programmes for research scholars like involvement in the research project, publishing of research articles and papers, organizing Seminars/Workshops/ Conferences on research and innovations etc. The centre is connected with reputed knowledge resource centres having own Archive optimum amount of research thesis, research books, research journals and research reports of the various sectors and fields of the society.

• Minimum 55% or (B +) in Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) / M.A. – Social Work in any specialization and PET-I & PET–II / NET / SET / SLET / JRF is a necessary qualification for Ph.D. registration.
• Submission of written Application to the Head/Director, Place of Higher learning & Research for enrollment their-self and allocation of the Research Supervisor.
• Allotment of Research Supervisor to the candidate by Research Supervisor Allotment Committee (R.S.A.C.) formulated by Place of Higher Learning and Research.
• Preparation of Synopsis / Research Proposal or Plan of Research by the candidate in the prescribed format as per The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Ph.D. Direction No. 37 of 2017.
• Candidate appear Research Advisory Committee (R.A.C.) formulated by R.T.M.N.U. at Place of Higher Learning and Research, Orange City College of Social Work, Nagpur and record and make changes as per recommendation by R.A.C.
• Preparation of synopsis by the candidate as per the recommendations of R.A.C. under the supervision and guidance of the allotted Research Guide / Supervisor or Co-guide allotted by the R.T.M.N.U., Nagpur.
• The candidate will submit all the prescribed documents on online portal of R.T.M.N.U. for registration along with synopsis. The hard copy of the same should be submitted to R.T.M.N.U. and Research Centre too.
• The Candidate prepare to appears the Research and Recognition Committee (R.R.C.) taken by the R.T.M.N.U., Nagpur for registration of Ph.D.
• After approval by the R.R.C. the candidate needs to submit all the required documents and fees to the Place of Research as well as Ph.D. Cell (R.T.M.N.U.) as per university norms.
• Letter of Ph.D. Registration from R.T.M.N.U. and submission of required documents to R.T.M.N.U. as per registration letter.
• Candidate makes Payment of Retention Fees and submit six monthly Progress / Development Report to R.T.M.N.U. Nagpur.
• Candidate prepared to appears R.A.C; R.T.M.N.U. every six months.
• Publications of ongoing research work in related National / International level Conference / Seminar Proceedings or National / International level Research Journals mandatory.
• Candidate prepare and appears to Pre-Submission Seminar (Viva-Voce) by R.A.C., R.T.M.N.U. and accommodate changes in the final thesis as suggested.
• Submission of thesis of Ph.D. Research and final summary report to the R.T.M.N.U., Nagpur.
• Open defense and Open Viva-Voce by external evaluator at R.T.M.N.U., Nagpur.
• Issue of notification copy and Award of Ph.D. Degree in Convocation of R.T.M.N.U., Nagpur.
